Sheep Knight
Indie Arcade Game
"Sheep Knight" is a whimsical endless-runner where players control a clumsy knight journeying through space with a bouncy sheep companion. In this lighthearted escapade, a pursuing dragon uses its own sheep for locomotion.
I handled all facets of the game's production, from conceptualization and design to coding and animation.
Designed for a one-button arcade machine, the game's mechanics and screens were tailored precisely to suit this unique platform.
"Sheep Knight" draws inspiration from the children's game of "Tag" to evoke the familiar sensations of constant forward momentum and exhilaration in the virtual realm. Like the original game, the excitement persists until the player is caught by their pursuer.
The sheep's design was inspired by the playful movement of Australian leaping sheep.
The knight character choice stems from classic arcade games, creating a humorous contrast with the sheep as the knight's unconventional mount.
The dragon, as the pursuer, subverts the typical fantasy theme shared by both characters.
Later, the game was also adapted for mobile platforms.
